A Very Rare Old Senufo Deguele Helmet Mask , African mask, African Art - $2,000 - (Perkasie, PA)

Senufo Deguele helmet mask of hollowed domed shape perforated around the edges for attachments. The helmet has a raised curved top with jagged crest and with two finely shaped ears, as well as two tall curving horns.The helmet features two seated, female figures seated atop of a horseshoe shaped emblem. Helmet masks like this one were used for ceremonies preparing young men for the actual initiation into the membership of the “poro” society. From the Senufo peoples of Mali and the Ivory Coast. The helmet measures 16 x 11 inches. The mask will also include a metal display stand.Very well weathered, obvious field use and wear. Overall Good condition.
