Up for sale this nice hand-made primitive hooked rug. Pretty large, measuring about 20" x 37". Nice country scene, depicting cowboy, horse, dog , cow & its calf. Nice choice of colors. This rug comes a few miles from Quebec city area. Made by an elderly lady, who made them since late 1940s. She is now over 80 years old and is unable to do them anymore. Those are my last ones. She always used original patterns drawn by herself, not copying pre-made factory ones. She used her imagination to create lovely primitive and original subjects. Some of them are her childhood memories from the country side. This rug is unused, not antique, but was made less than 10 years ago. She worked the "old fashion way", using a jute sack & various used fabrics laying around, that were cut in narrow tatters. Then she takes several hours to hook them, all by hand. Those are very well made, hooked pretty tight. You don't see light throught her work! They have never been washed or used. If you put them on the floor anywhere in the house, they should look old pretty fast, if you want that distressed look. I have also seen many people hanging them on the wall, like a work of art.
