Military 5KW Generator - $890 - (Gillett, PA)
This is a MEP-017 military surplus generator, rated at 5000 Watts (5 KW) by the Army at 8,000 feet altitude. The actual useable output is at least 7.2 KW continuous with a full 100% surge capacity for starting motors and well pumps. It produces 120 or 240 volt single phase and 208 volt 3 phase. (65 amps at 120 volts, 32.5 amps at 240 volts, 21.6 amps at 208 volts) The engine is an air cooled, overhead valve, 42 cubic inch military standard gasoline engine with electric or manual start, including a remote starting capability. There is also full instrumentation for both the engine and the generator, including hours, oil pressure, battery charge, generator output in volts, hertz and percent load and a 3-pole circuit breaker. The engine also features an automatic shutdown for low oil pressure and a lighted instrument panel. There is a fuel valve for drawing fuel from a secondary source so you don't need to shut it down to fill the fuel tank. This generator has a new carburetor, governor and magneto, starts easily and runs great. All of the different voltages and phases work. The generator has 208 original hours on it (photo of hour meter shows 207, but it has been run since the pic was taken). Also included is a copy of the technical manuals on cd. These generators are infinitely heavier duty than the cheap $500 units available at the local hardware store and are made to run continuously for extended periods.
