Judaea, Early Greek, THE SH'MA Coin Very Rare - $11,000 - (Stamford, CT)
This very special coin thought to be from the period immediately after Alexander the Great conquored Judaea features an "ear" on one side. This is commonly thought to be a symbol of the ancient prayer "Sh'ma Israel" (Listen, Israel) -- hence the "ear". The falcon is a common symbol on these early coins. It is very small. Weight is approximately .25 gm. According to the Menorah Coin project there are only 30 specimens of this coin. I purchased this coin from the person who manages the Menorah Coin project. I will provide the bill of sale from him to the buyer here so you can satisfy yourself that this coin is not a fake.In the last 10 years I can find only three sales of this coin and none were as high quality as this coin. I will ship the coin using registered, insured mail. Since that is not an option in the Ebay system I have indicated I am shipping by Priorty Mail but, in fact, it will be shipped first class registered mail. If you are outside the U.S., you are responsible for ensuring that you can comply with any custom regulations. I ship using the global shipping program which means they set the shipping price which I believe includes any import fees but please check with Ebay if you have any questions.
