for sale is this complete 178 plate set of the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies the title on the spine say Atlas of the Battlefields of the Civil War this set was apparently received from the Government which was a four year process once they were all received they were bound into a single volume there is an order slid for the binding of the book numbered 355 it was dated April 22, 1896 with is when the last five plates was delivered form the Government all 178 plates are in the book plate number 1 has some issues as seen in the photos the plates were fastened to a paper which was fastened to the binding therefore leaving the plates in original condition there is some chipping of the edges as seen in the photos of the ends of the book this collection also contains the complete index of the Atlas overall condition is good this is one of the original 10,000 set put out from 1892 to 1896 it is difficult to find these in a single binding they did not come out in this form originally they came in a blue green folder with a list of five plates in that folder once they were all received they were bound in this formatthis a very nice collection see photos
