1922 Silver Gelatin Photograph Print Women Protesters Swimsuit Feminist Suffrage - $200 - (Sterling, IL)

This auction is for a terrific vintage photograph of the arrest of two women for wearing immodest swimsuits in Chicago in July of 1922. No doubt aware that she was being photographed, the woman at the center of the image struck a dramatic pose while being carried to the police transport. It appears to be a gelatin silver print. There is a spot of silvering on the leg of the leftmost police officer and a couple scuffs on his hat as shown with a couple other small areas of silvering to the left of him and under the woman's legs. (The white spots at the top and base in the first and second pictures are glare from the flash.) The print is otherwise in good condition and looks great in its black wood frame. The visible image measures approximately 17 1/2" x 13 1/2" and 29 1/2" x 25 1/2" framed.
