Galanti Grand Prix - Sounds great! - $695 - (Medford, OR)
Well it's been a slow year and I need to let go of some gear I can live without. I'd long wanted a Galanti Grand Prix and lucked into this one. I'll be sorry to see it go but things are a little tough right now. If my fortunes improve, I'll likely buy another. I believe these were only produced for a few years in the mid 60s. I'm guessing this one is about a 67. Very well built, with cool sounding pickups. Wide range of nice tones via the typical 60s Italian push button selectors. Nice output somewhere between a hot single coil and a full size humbucker. These are some of the coolest designs to come out of Europe in the 60s and usually sell for up to twice my asking price. I'm offering this for less than most sell for because it's missing the trem bar (which I believe can be replaced with an off-the-shelf item) and has one changed tuner. These can also be found for sale from time to time as they were used on a lot of European guitars in the 60s, not just Galanti (Hofner, etc.). Of course the open gear tuner someone put there functions perfectly and the guitar stays in tune very well. The neck appears to be maple. Not sure of the body wood, but if I had to guess, I'd say mahogany. Really solid, quality guitar. Comes with a non-original hard case that fits it perfectly. Please check my feedback. I've bought and sold a lot of guitars and other music gear over the years and every transaction has been perfect. Thanks for looking.
