Marwin No. 1 Archtop Guitar - $499 - (Blairstown, NJ)
Here is a Marwin No. 1 Archtop guitar. These guitars were manufactured in Chicago by Harmony and sold under the Marwin name. This is a rare instrument that is both highly collectible and fun to play. I'm not sure of the exact manufacture date but most likely was made in the 1930's. As far as I can tell, it is all original and includes the sliding Rosewood bridge which can be used to lower or raise the strings to your preferred set-up. This instrument is over 80 years old and so has the usual signs of wear and scratches. There is one repaired crack (approx. 5 inches) on the lower top side middle that I had professionally repaired There is also a separation of approximately 4.5" on the lower back where the body meets the binding (shown in the photos). Neither of these issues affect tone or playability but the separation issue will eventually need to be addressed. I will factor the need for that that repair into any reasonable offer. The original pickguard is included but is broken in half and taped together for now. It can be glued but I'll let the next owner do that. Overall, this guitar is in very good condition and has that great vintage archtop sound suitable for country blues, jazz and open tuned slide. There is no case but this instrument will be carefully packed for safe shipping and fully insured for the final purchase amount. Please review the pictures, ask questions and buy with confidence.
