VERY NICE OLD ANTIQUE 17/18TH CENTURY INDIAN SHAMSHIR SWORD DAMASCUS WOOTZ BLADE - $2,995 - (Raleigh, NC)
Being offered is a nice and very old antique Indian shamshir that would date to the 17/18th century. This sword measures 36" when measured in a straight line from the pommel to the tip of the blade. The handle is beautiful and early. The grip, knuckle bow, and pommel have a blackened background with carved flowers in relief and then accented in a thick gold. All surfaces have been decorated in this manner. The pommel wheel is slightly loose. The blade is an early shamshir blade dating to the same period as the handle, 17/18th century. The forte of the blade on both sides has been decorated in very thick gold work. Very nicely done! The blade is wootz steel with very fine tight crystalline damascus pattern. The very tip,of the blade is rounded off. The blade has a few spots of oxidation but the pattern is clear and consistent throughout. A fine and early Indian shamshir.
