PION Interstellar Drive Solid State Disk SSD w/ Prototype Interface for Apple II - $2,000 - (Orange, CA)
INCLUDES:- One (1) PION Interstellar Drive with power supply- One (1) Wire-wrapped Prototype Apple II Interface NOTES:This is a PION Interstellar Drive, which is a solid state drive that uses RAM as it's memory. The base PION drive was 256KB. This PION drive appears to be populated with a full 1MB of storage. Since flash memory was not available or was too expensive at the time, to make a fast solid state disk they used RAM instead. It is powered by AC and has batteries for backup if power is lost. CONDITION:- This drive, power supply, and interface board are all very old and UNTESTED.- At the very least, it needs new batteries, perhaps a new battery holder, and possibly more.- The unit will need a safe replacement for the exposed power transformer. DO NOT OPERATE THIS UNIT WITH THE INCLUDED TRANSFORMER! You will need to replace this with an enclosed power supply unit or make an enclosure for the included one.- The interface board is a prototype wire wrapped board and like the Pion Drive, is UNTESTED.- If you intend to try to fix this, be sure to check the interface board for shorts as some of the pins etc are bent.- As always, check the pictures for condition because they do a better job describing than I do! GUARANTEE:- This is an AS-IS with no guarantee item because it is very old and UNTESTED. I SHIP MONDAY - FRIDAY ONLY. SAME DAY SHIPPING IF YOU PAY BY 2PM PACIFIC TIME. SERIAL NUMBER PICTURED. I REPORT FRAUDULENT RETURNS TO THE POLICE.
