TYPE 1 1916 -1919 A C GILBERT ERECTOR MOTOR AND GEAR BOX ASSEMBLY TESTED WORKS - $65 - (Ringwood, NJ)

MANUFACTURED BY:.. A C GILBERT ERECTOR THE SIDE FRAMES ARE EXTREMELY EARLY VERSIONS. THERE ARE ONLY HOLES FOR SHAFT PLACEMENT. LATER VERSIONS HAD SLITS FOR MAXIMUM ADJUSTMENT. The motor is a P - 52, the feet are open ended. I believe this assembly was known as a P - 62 when it was offered in the electrical sets. In response to a question, I inspected it and found that the thin wire connecting two terminals was wrapped around one of them. I then connected it properly and installed leads to an American Flyer No. 1 transformer and to my surprise, it started to rumble. And then it spun a little and then a little more, and finally it worked at full RPM.
