1973 Hasbro "the Great Gassers" Gas Powered Tether Cars, New Old Stock - $1,000 - (Woonsocket, RI)
This is a Lot of Two 1/24 Scale Gas Powered Tether Cars Made by Hasbro in 1973. These Cars Were called "the Great Gassers". These cars were acquired from a ex hasbro employee that was working in the Pawtucket and Woonsocket Rhode Island Factories in 1969 through 1975. When I acquired these cars he told me he was involved in the designing of the Corrugated Boxes used to package the cars for shipping to the department that would repack them for retail. He also told me that he wasn't sure if hasbro ever offered the cars for sale. I have done some research and it does appear that some limited amounts were shipped to stores and every once in awhile one will come up for auction, but they seem quite rare. This pair of cars are the only two styles that were produced. One is a customized 1973 Ford Mustang The other is a 1973 customized Dodge Charger. Both cars are new old stock complete with all the items that were issued with them. Each car includes : Sticker Sheet, Small sponsor decal sheet, Tether, Instruction Sheet & Accessory parts bag with : (ignition Harness, Fueling Cap, Fueling Tube, Tuning Wrench & Extra Glow Plug Gaskets) This is a rare chance for the serious collector to purchase both cars in original condition just like the left the factory 44 years ago.
