John Lennon BEATLES Saturday Morning Cartoon Action Figure : McFarlane 2004 - $100 - (Youngstown, OH)

Up for auction is a toy action figure of John Lennon based on his animated appearance as a cartoon character in the 1965-1967 classic Beatles Saturday Morning Cartoon series. The figure was produced in 2004 by McFarlane Toys and has never been opened. I am the original owner of this figure, purchasing it off the store self when it came out. It still has its original price sticker label affixed ($12.99). On Sept. 25, 1965, ABC debuted The Beatles, a 30-minute Saturday morning cartoon that became a ratings smash for the network. The series used the music of the Beatles to frame the individual episodes, each of which centered on the completely made-up and fanciful adventures of the band members. Airing from 1965 until 1967 in its original run, and through 1969 in reruns, the show lasted for 39 total episodes. The Beatles series was re-broadcast in 1980 and again in 1987 by MTV, and later by the Disney Channel. According to the book Beatletoons: The Real Story Behind the Cartoon Beatles, the Fab Four hated the show at first, but later embraced its campy portrayal of the period when they still sported mop tops and suits. “I still get a blast out of watching the Beatles cartoons on TV,” John Lennon said in 1972. This sculpted figure is mint and has never been removed from its clear, clamshell case (see photo). The clamshell case is in excellent condition. The figure boasts authentic detailing and comes posed. The included base allows you to proudly display the figure in your home or office removed from its protective clamshell holder. You may also choose to exhibit it without removing it from its clear case. The figure and its base, when removed from its packaging and assembled, would stand approximately 6 inches tall. While McFarlane hard resin action figures are marketed to youngsters age 5 and above, fans and memorabilia collectors of all ages have come to enjoy acquiring, trading and displaying the high-quality figures.
