Wonderful, large strand of COPAL amber beads for African Trade circa 1920's. Copal Amber is mostly 'Amber' that originated in West Germany in the 20's for the African Trade made of Phenolic Resin. Many in the industry consider this Amber as it has been sold thiat way for almost 100 years. The larger the bead the higher the regard was given, and of course, the more it was worth. This strand consists of 37 huge beads: Overall Length = 38-1/2 inches Bead Length = graduates from 2" to 1" Bead Diameter = graduates from 1-1/2" to 1/2" Weight = 1020 grams The beads are in great condition reflecting wear consistent with their organic nature and age.
