"Legend, Soloist" - 4 valve, .580" primary bore, .600" 4th valve bore, 11" upright bell, top-action pistons, spring-loaded 3rd slide w/ throw ring. Upright bell, four piston valves. This instrument has never been sold, but was loaned to a band director while he was waiting for a lacquered King 2280 euphonium to arrive. We received it with a few small dings and a couple light scratches, but no real damage. Our shop removed the little dings and the instrument looks "almost new" again. The beautiful silver plating is 100%. We also gave it a soap & water bath, aligned the valves, and replaced the original valve guides with plastic guides that are very quiet. The valves are barely broken in and are fast, smooth, and quiet! King's superb 2280 euphonium is a large bore instrument capable of producing a big, full euphonium sound. With the fourth valve and the spring-loaded 3rd valve slide intonation in the low register is never a problem. It's an ideal instrument for anyone needing a good euphonium but not able to spend $6000 - $7000 for an English or other European euphonium. Original King hard case and Marcellus mouthpiece are included, plus an extra set of valve springs and two extra sets of valve guides. Suggested retail for a new King 2280SP euphonium is now $4793, with MAP price of $2959. This slightly used "almost new" King 2280SP euphonium is a best buy at $2175!
