The book reflects on the change in Canadian art after 1910. Before that date Canadian art authorities did not believe that Canada's rough landscape was art material; the pine trees were unpaintable! Subsequently, seven artists came to the fore to present the first satisfying depicture of Canada, which included not only scenes from the north, farm landscapes, pastorals, but Canada of the east, west and south with railroads, city streets, etc. Painters like MacDonald, Harris, Beatty, Thomson, Lismer, and Jackson. The book itself is tight and has a pristine interior. The front blue cover does have some splotches, as does the spine exterior. This hardcover book is about 8 1/2 x 6 x 1 inch; 221 pages, which includes 13 illustrations. The book was first printed in December, 1926. My book is a First Edition, Second Printing, October, 1927. Note the attractive decorated endpapers with the front inside cover showing Rocky Mountains and West Coast, and back inside cover showing Eastern Canada.
