INDIAN STERLING ENTREE DISH SET GEORGE GORDON c1820 OWNED KEANE FAMILY An important set of George IV sterling Indian colonial entree dishes. Selling 40 year collection of Indian Colonial Silver. Many examples from the early London silversmiths, working in India. George Gordon, listed nine years, Calcutta 1821 to 1830. Armorial for the Keane family, County Clare, Ireland. In rectangular form with unusually slender petal gadroon trim. Twin feathered leaf cap crossed bough finial, just as found on the British examples of the day. Indian colonial entree dishes 11 1/2 inches by 8 inches and set 111 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown. The identical hallmark in Wilkinson pg 71. In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Covers well fit to base. Stands firm on table. Few mild scuffs. Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.
