VINTAGE WARDS CATALOG (SPRING & SUMMER) dated 1933 - $150 - (Bedford, PA)
Up for bids is a 1933 Vintage Wards Spring and Summer Catalog. This catalog is in acceptable condition. There are (I Think) three pages missing and the #of pages go up to 494. The book is 13 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide. It has on the binding (# 118 Baltimore). The catalog is in fair shape considering its age. I listed some of the flaws in my description. The worst thing about this catalog is the smell--it smells so old-I don't know if you were to put some baking soda in a bag and then put the book in it ..maybe it would take some of the odor out of the pages. Everything old that has pages or anykind of old books have the same smell. The inside of the catalog is so interesting to read--they had -cast iron stoves for $42,00 , a Wardoleum rug (9X12) for $6.45. A sewing machine for $28,95, Boots for #2.00, Dresses for 79 cents and 98 cents. A one horse white water wagon for $41.90. Totally out of this world----no wonder we took it to the outhouse.(laugh) there were some really awesome things for sale in the book. I've spent quite a bit of my time looking at this catalog since the lady brought it in for me. If only our prices were like this now days.. I put as many pictures that I could so you could see what the catalog really looks like- and a matter of fact there are even a worm holes in the edges of the pages. I wonder if that's where the old saying came from ( about being a book worm when you liked to read all the time?)
