1960s Original Ronald McDonald 7’ Figure “Free Arm” Flowers Base The Real Deal - $2,200 - (Lake Lure, NC)
The “free arm” style (both arms away from body, unlike the more recent version with one arm attached to body to make the figure cheaper to produce and less likely to break). Made of fiberglass, this figure's original finish is overall glossy as made, with some weathering at toe of left shoe and some weathering of the base (in-between some of the flowers and grasses, and top of base finish is somewhat duller than gloss of Ronald's body). This statue stood in a South Carolina backyard garden for past 30 years – and has withstood the weather exceptionally well, and there appears to be a small square fiberglass access point (or repair, which may be factory) just above to left of the "pink" flower at front of base, as well as a very narrow opening in the fiberglass of base (but with zero structural effect or weakness) -- see close-ups. There are some very minor marks which would clean off, and a scuff through the finish on right hand and fingertips; again, see photos. The flowers all have factory "holes" at centers; possibly for lights at one time? Original iron mounting post and set bolts fitter underneath; some rust to the structure bolts underneath.
