Description: Vintage Original Lou Rankin Owl Sculpture.Made of concrete, metal, and wood. Signed "L. Rankin 64" on base. Lou Rankin (1929-2016 ) was a California-based sculptor who became known for his animal sculptures in concrete. In a 1973 interview quoted in the exhibition brochure, Rankin explained "the color and texture of concrete are excellent for many animal studies, and beyond that I needed to work with an expendable material in order to be free to try even the least promising subjects and techniques. From this point of view in particular, concrete is an absolutely fascinating medium in which to work". This Early Sculpture is 12" High.
