OUTSTANDING Vintage Hand Made All Cotton CATHEDRAL WINDOW QUILT, Queen, No Flaws - $350 - (Kingwood, TX)

This is an exceptional quilt and bedspread made probably in the 1950's ~ 1960's, judging from some of the fabrics that have Mid Century Modern style prints. The printed fabrics are all cotton, but none of them come from feed sacks, as far as we can tell. The quilt was has a center "field" that was made in the Cathedral Window pattern, exquisitely well executed, both the "center" that adjusts beautifully to the top of the queen size bed in the pics, and then the more colorful borders that go on the four sides, as you can notice on the photos. The Cathedral Window pattern on those wide borders is slightly different than on the "field" that occupies the center of the quilt, as you can easily notice by comparing close-up # 4, for example, with close-ups # 8, 9 and 10. Some of the fabrics used have wonderful prints, but we do not have enough pic-space here to post many of them: in the pics you see only a few examples. We have sold over the years many Cathedral Window quilts, but no one is even closer to this in skill of the quilters or beauty. Notice that the fabrics are all regular printed cottons, but the plain light yellow one is not flat cotton, but looks rather like seersucker or some other old, textured cotton. We don't know the name of that particular fabric. If you need an even closer look to it, please contact us to receive a super close-up that you can use to judge by yourself what cotton the makers of this beauty used. The quilt was made for a queen size bed as the one in the photos, it seems to us. That bed measures 80" by 60". Besides large, this bedspread is also heavy, thanks to the cotton fabrics used to make it. It weighs 8 lbs 6 oz un-boxed, just the quilt. We combine shipping.
