WWI German Prussian Infantry Reserve officer's pickelhaube Authentic Helmet - $1,000 - (Papillion, NE)

A very nice looking authentic WWI German Prussian Infantry Reserve officer's pickelhaube. The pickelhaube retains its rounded leather shape with brass fittings and brass chinscales. Right side chinscales are missing. It has the National German State black-white-red cockade as well as Prussian black-white-black, in line with the 1897 military directive. The Reserve status is denoted by the silver cross on the Prussian State eagle. As the bandeau with the state motto (Mit Gott Fur Koenig und Vaterland) has been placed on the cross. The quality of the gilding on the eagle is superb. The helmet is probably mid WWI issue as the rear strengthening spine and one of the cockades is made of a zinc alloy instead of brass and would have been a result of wartime economy. The rest of the fittings are brass or gilded brass. The inside of the spike base has the maker's marks P.M. Berlin. This is possibly for Paul Meybauer of Berlin, although he isn't listed as a pickelhaube maker. The inside is in great shape. The helmet has one of the nicest shapes that we have seen in a while and looks stunning. Size: 23 x 18.5 x 24.5cm (9 1/8 x 7 1/4 x 9 5/8 inches)
