This antique diamond and opal brooch is from the Victorian Era, 1873 to 1910. The brooch features 6 high quality diamonds of approximately 60 points, and 7 large opals of approximately 5.75 carats. The pear cut opals measure 9 mm in length, 6 mm wide. The round center opal measures 5 mm. All flash blues, turquoise, and emerald green. These opals are called "crystal opals," having no visible matrix attached, hence "crystal." Their colors flash between transparent layers. Crystal opals are so clear you can read letters on paper through them.The gold has a jeweler antiqued finish. The gold on the front has some texture and is smoother on the back. It measures 1.5" in diameter, and has brooch pin, and also a loop on the back to also wear as a pendant. The brooch is in beautiful condition, is stamped 14K. Jeweler retail value $2,000.00.
