Early Vintage .935 Sterling Silver MOVADO "Ermeto" Chronometre ALL ORIGINAL! - $295 - (Little River, CA)

The "Ermeto" case design was developed and patented in 1926 by the Huguenin Freres of Le Locle, Switzerland. The design called for a rectangular "hermetic" casing around a watch module, which could open and close to view the dial and also to "automatically" wind the watch each time the case was opened and closed. The Ermeto was marketed aggressively by Movado beginning in 1927, and was a huge success. Ermetos were manufactured in four different sizes in a variety of metal cases and coverings, including gold, silver, enamel and reptile skins. Here's a rare and beautiful Ermeto Chronometre in .935 sterling silver with reptile skin covering. MOVADO ("Ermeto") - Excellent 48x34mm (71x34mm opened) reptile covered sterling silver (.935) hermetic case, signed 15 jewel calibre 150MN chronometer movement with 4 adjustments, excellent aged original silver satin dial with raised gold Breguet arabic numerals, gold skeletal hands (no seconds). The .935 sterling silver case on this vintage Ermeto features reptile covering in good condition. This case is not equipped with the usual rack-winding system which "automatically" winds the movement each time the case is opened, which likely means this is one of the original early Ermetos. The signed 15 jewel Movado calibre 150MN chronometre movement is adjusted to 4 positions, and is running fine and keeping excellent time. The original silver satin dial is in excellent aged condition, and is signed, "Movado, Chronometre, Ermeto, Swiss Made." VINTAGE MOVADO "ERMETO" CHRONOMETRE WITH ORIGINAL DIAL AND .935 STERLING SILVER REPTILE SKIN COVERED CASE! Buyer pays shipping ($15 US Delivery or $60 International via Global Express).
