United States Fractional Currency Shield - $2,000 - (Punxsutawney, PA)

I found this Grey Fractional Currency Shield in an antique store in Reynoldsville, Pa. The shield was wrapped in saran wrap and the seller had just stopped pulling notes off from it. Luckily they only took off regular issued notes that were added on after the shield was made. It was common practice for banks to do this and goes to show the shield was issued to a bank and was used. This shield has portions of the cardboard backing missing and parts of some notes are affected. The worst is the hand signed Spinner note that has about an 1/8 inch missing from the right hand side of the note.Other notes have wear also.I took numerous pictures to show the condition of the shield. The scars on the shield were the added notes were removed have traces of the removed notes. From them I figured out the notes that were removed. I took photo's of other notes put over the scars to give an idea of what the shield would look like.I didn't put them up because I don't want to cause any confusion but I can send one or more to anyone that's interested. As they didn't come framed, I just have it in a common frame.More than likely the new owner will want to choose a frame to match their taste. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
