The E-mu E-6400 Ultra is a legendary sampler with a unique feature that sets it apart as a creative sound mangler and customization instrument with a 48 track sequencer, time stretching algorithms, 2 LFOs ,filters, and 3 envelope generators, The E-6400 Ultra is a fantastic instrument for any studio. This unit has 64MB of memory and has lots of possibilities for expansion. I have already expanded this unit with the D-WAM option (Digital,Word Clock, ASCII, MIDI) circuit board card part number 6862. This card for the E-6400 Ultra added digital (AES/EBU) I/O on XLR connectors, word clock I/O on BNC connectors, a SECOND MIDI in, out and thru socket, and ASCII keyboard input. This upgrade consumed the blanking holes on the rear designed for this upgrade, and did not affect the ability to install any other upgrades. This Card is Very Rare (i've never seen one sold on ebay and don't think they exist anymore unless found used). The ASCII keyboard port allows the user to control the screen functions with an external computer keyboard which is nice instead of always having to use the front buttons. The dual midi options are great for control and with a word clock feature makes this unit a monster for syncing with other midi devices. There are still tons of sound library's available for it and comes pre loaded with some great sounds as well. This unit has a significant upgrade from its sister e4 and classic units in processing power which is what makes the Beat Munger functionality possible(see Beat Munger Videos on Youtube).....The sound is out of this world! Studios have these exact units for this feature alone. The 3.5 card reader has been upgraded to a sony and works great. This 6400 will also take a hard drive, scsi set up(cd-rom,zip drive, card readers,.........if down the road you want to upgrade it more.
