Pickard Plate Hand Decorated by Curtis Marker, 1918-1919, Beautiful Tropical Sce - $200 - (Tuscaloosa, AL)

This plate was decorated by Curtis Marker for Pickard Studios of Chicago. The back bears the Pickard mark No. 8 which dates the plate to 1918-1919. It measures 9.7-inches in diameter and 10.45-inches across the “handles.” It has a wonderful overall appearance, however, there are some scuff marks (please look carefully at the close-up photos). The gold leaf edging is in great shape with just a few minor marks. It is photographed under different lighting conditions to show as much detail as possible. The late Wendell Garrett, a regular on the Antiques Roadshow, examined this plate at a private charity event in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, about 15 years ago and appraised it at about $300, however, it is offered for considerably less.
