Beautiful Antique 19th C. Solid Brass Push Up Candlestick Holders - $40 - (Miami Beach, FL)
Early to mid 19th century English push-up candlestick holders. These candlesticks were designed when candles were made entirely from bees wax and were very expensive. The push-up design allowed the candlestick to be "pushed-up" as the candle burned down lower and lower so as to enable the candle holder to burn every bit of wax. These are approximately 11" high. They are antique and in condition one would expect with probably 200 years of age and use. The patina, oxidation, some spotting, and other signs of wear as expected with age and use, but no damage, dents, etc. The brass has not been cleaned and polished to preserve the natural appearance of aged brass.
