A damascene prayer book case. Rectangular form with domed and hinged lid, (hinged lid is secure - no play). Made from a brass and copper. Decorated with 6 turquoises and 2 corals, (one coral has a hairline), applied ornaments/scrolls in white metal - not a silver or low grade silver. No maker/manufacturer and country of origin marks. Probably made in North African region, late 19th. or early 20th. Century Photos will tell you more. Approx.: Total Width: 7-1/4in. (185mm.) Width (w/o rinds for hanging): 4-7/8in. (123mm.) Height: 5-3/8in. (135mm.) Depth: 1-1/2in. (40mm.) Weight: 17.35 oz. (491.8 gr.) Heavy for it size. Commensurate with age, the condition is very good.
