WWI AIR WAR PHOTO ALBUMS PILOTS AIRPLANES NAMED RARE 577 PICTURES - $4,500 - (Galena, IL)
THIS IS A WWI AERO COLLECTION YOU WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN! All total, there are close to 650 photo's of every airplane and hundreds of pilots each card with the name of the plane or pilot, or pilots. One album has 35 plastic sleeves with 9 photo's each, the next, 30 sleeves (with 7 picture slots not filled), and the larger picture album has 15 sleeves with either 4 or 2 pictures back to back. The last sleeve of the larger 15 sleeved album has 3 original photographs of what I believe is the First Yale Unit, with Trubee Davison in flying gear and Robert Lovett going over a checklist, with a tall fellow in a suit standing next to them is Artemus Gates in the suit who would eventually marry Davison's sister. The plane is a Curtiss Model "F" float "pusher" plane, exactly what the First Yale Unit flew leading up to the war, with a roll up wood wharf. Neat neat stuff. In the two card albums there are a number of pictures of Manfred and Lothar Richtofen, his plane shot up by ground fire, a number of crashes, Raoul Lufbery, Frank Luke, James Norman Hall, Billy Bishop, Guynemer, Nungesser, Boelcke, Voss, Fonke, Cadbury, Ball, Campbell, Immelmann, Carpenter, Bert Hall, Clay, Parsons, Rickenbacker, Thaw, Udet, Goring, Loerzer... pilots for Germany, England, USA, France, you name it they're all here. There is a large photo from the air taken inside a German bomber, a smaller photo of a twin fuselage German bomber, Fokker's, Spad's, Bristol's, Niewport's, Albatross's, Renault's, Farman's, Roland's, a few balloons, sausages, one going down in flames, an observer parachuting, a Sopwith Tri-plane, Vickers, it goes on and on and on... As always I do not take returns, and on a group like this expensive as it may be, with so many parts this will be no exception. Swords I can make an adjustment, but there are just too many parts to this group.
