Grandfather clock;'The Diplomat' ;a Daneker floor clock;45yrs old. - $1,200 - (Allentown, PA)
Grandfather Clock -'The Diplomat', a Daneker floor clock. (The Million-Rutherford Co.,Fallston,MD) Purchased locally in 1972 but used so little I could almost say it was never used.(the sound of the chimes would waken family members, hence, not used) Construction/style is reminiscent of the early American style used in beautiful York county clocks of the 19th century. The clock movement is imported from Black Forest of Germany. The Westminster Chimes proclaim the 1/4 hrs and the 'Big Ben' announces the hours is mounted on a solid maple sounding board. The clock is made from Solid Cherry Lumber grown in the High Mountains of Northwestern Pennsylvania.(the aforementioned information is drawn from information provided by the company that manufactured the clock).
