What did your Father Drive? 2018 MARKS THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VERMONT AUTOMOBILE ENTHUSIASTS AND OUR 15TH ANNUAL CLASSIC AUTO FESTIVAL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SHELBURNE MUSEUM, JUNE 16, 17, 2018 For 2018, the SHELBURNE MUSEUM CLASSIC AUTO FESTIVAL wishes to honor ELECTRIC CARS, which are becoming more prevalent on today’s roads. Many people don’t realize, however, that these vehicles have a long history. In fact, a hundred years ago, electric cars were a common sight on the streets of America, with names like Detroit Electric, Baker Electric, Columbia, Rauch and Lang… even Studebaker. The buyers of motorcars at the time had a choice of motive power: gasoline, steam or electric. We all know that the gasoline internal combustion engine won this contest, but this is quickly becoming history! With this in mind, we offer an invitation to all owners of fully electric (non-hybrid) vehicles, regardless of age, to register their cars and bring them to Shelburne for this Fathers’ Day Weekend celebration.
