Vintage RARE 1940's Emco model ST-95 microphone floor stand old Shure RCA Atlas - $250 - (Park Rapids, MN)
Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare and unique find. A 1940's era Emco floor stand (model # ST-95) with a heavy, thick cast iron deco two tier "waterfall" design for any vintage microphone you wish to display it with. This stand measures from 35 inches low to 64 inches tall once fully deployed in the highest position. Tall enough for any user. Made during the 1940's in the USA and was quite a popular design being very modern for it's era. Emco was one of the last American microphone stand manufacturers to compete on the market until Atlas was formed and Atlas ran the competition out within a few years. You rarely come across these Emco floor stands on Ebay and this one is in pretty good overall shape considering it's age. Highly collectible and a good stable platform for those older, heavier microphones. The black satin paint looks good but I honestly don't know if it's original? This model came in a grey color as well as a black scheme. The cast iron 10 inch wide base weighs quite a bit and the total weight with stem included is 11 pounds. The locking clutch works perfectly and the stem unscrews easily from the base which is a bonus as many of these older stems are fused into place. The original 5/8 thread on top is works perfectly and allows user to mate any American microphone. As seen in the pics there are 2 nickel plated stems showing wear but unlike the newer stands made of steel this old stem was made from brass so you see the raw metal in places where the nickel plate is worn down but the stems will never rust away. If anything you'll just see more of that beautiful brass as the decades go by. The top stem shows considerably less wear than the bottom. It should be noted that the stand never came with floor pads so i added 4 thick felt pads and glued them in place to keep this stand from scratching your floors. the pads work like a charm too. You'll greatly appreciate the upgrade and if you don't like them just slice them of
