1805 DRAPED BUST DIME JR-2 (4 Berries)A Unique Guide Book VarietyATTRIBUTION: Obverse (1.2): Die crack through ERTY. Lightly clashed above the date and below Liberty's chin.The obverse die was used previously to strike the JR-1 variety.Reverse (N): Four berries in the branch, die rotated about 30 degrees clockwise. The most prominent die clash runs through the right-side reverse stars into the ribbon at UNUM. A heavy die line from star 10 in that region and small rust lumps around it give the impression of a die crack to the untrained eye. Other, more prominent die rust lumps are visible near the D in UNITED. May have been a left over die from 1798, as it employs the old style narrow A's and small stars arranged in a diagonal pattern. As most design features during this period were entered into the die by hand, this variety has numerous other differences from the JR-1 die pairing, but the berry count is the most significant as it separates JR-2 as a unique Guide Book variety.
