Stangl Pottery Prohibition Repeal Happy Days Are Here Again Beer Pitcher Mugs - $1,200 - (Bowling Green, KY)

Extremely rare!!!! 1934 AMERICAN STANGL POTTERY PROHIBITION REPEAL PITCHER AND MUG SET, LOT OF EIGHT, comprising one pitcher and seven mugs, all barrel-shaped with brown sponge glaze, caricature designs on sides, and "HAPPY DAYS / ARE HERE / AGAIN" on the back; pitcher having a caricature of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt; caricatures on mugs include Vice President John Nance Garner, Maryland Governor Albert Ritchie, former Secretary of War Newton Baker, former Governor of New York Alfred E. Smith, former Secretary of the Treasury Gibbs McAdoo, and Postmaster General James Farley. "STANGL" embossed on base with additional mold numbers. The mugs are 4" tall and the pitcher is 7 1/4" tall. Condition: Five mugs undamaged, pitcher with small flake on outside edge of spout, two hairlines on rim of one mug and glaze loss on the front face of the same mug, and one hairline on rim of one mug.Notes: The Stangl Pottery Company produced this series to commemorate and celebrate the repeal of Prohibition. "Happy Days are Here Again" was the title of FDR's 1932 campaign song. I will include some written information about each of the politicians on the mugs.
