1964 Schwinn Jaguar Mark V 7 Speed Resto-mod Rat Rod Sturmey Archer - $1,250 - (Des Moines, IA)
This is a sweet, customized 1964 Schwinn Jaguar. The frame, fork, stem, headset, chainring, cranks, tank, stainless steel fenders, chainguard, grips, rear rack and seat post clamp are all original to the bike. All finishes are original with some nice patina, however it looks like the chainguard was repainted by a previous owner many years ago, you’d never notice. Fenders are in great condition for their age. This bike has been given the resto-mod treatment to make it ride much better than it did in stock form. First, it has a Shimano Nexus 7 speed internal gear rear hub with roller brake. It is laced into a Velocity Cliffhanger double walled alloy rim, as is the front, which has a Sturmey Archer drum brake hub. The bars are new Wald handlebars, wider and more comfortable than stock. The shifter is a vintage Shimano button, trigger shifter made of aluminum. Tires are WTB Thick Slicks with puncture protection. The chain is an Izumi black and silver BMX chain. The seat is a Brooks B67 springer mounted to a layback seat post for a more comfortable ride. The headlight is a retro torpedo MK II with an LED light and metal case, it’s bright enough to light up the trail. The rear light is a Soma torpedo, also an LED and in a spun aluminum case. The horn is a reproduction and works great. The bottom bracket has been disassembled, cleaned and repacked, so has the headset. The bike rides so nice. It is a joy to cruise or commute on and brings smiles wherever it goes. If you’re looking for a vintage machine that’s much more practical and fun to ride, look no further!
