10 BASF Ferro Maxima I super ferric (type I) cassette tapes (1991) - $165 - (Toronto, ON)
Offered for sale are 10 sealed BASF Ferro Maxima I cassette tapes, manufactured in Germany, sometime between 1991 and 1993. Seven of the tapes are 60 minutes long, and three are 90 minutes. While some of the tape wrappers may have minor surface scratches and shelf wear, one of the 60 minute tapes has a tiny tear in the cellophane wrapper on the front-right hand side - please see the close-up photo of this damaged packaging. The rest of the wrappers are in very good condition, with no tears in the plastic that I could see. BASF is often considered the undisputed master of type I tapes, having supplied most of the commercially available recorded cassettes released by major record labels around the world. These Maxima tapes take the regular type I formulation to the next level, with a much higher quality super ferric tape. Such super ferric tapes are better than the regular Type I tapes because they have lower noise, but retain the wonderful bass response of type I in general. These Ferro Maxima I cassettes were designed in 1991, which was a GREAT vintage for BASF, if you ask me. Maxima was the highest grade of quality from BASF, so these are wonderful late-model super ferric tapes for your recording pleasure!
