HANDCRAFTED GENUINELY VINTAGE CARNELIAN AND CHINESE CLOISONNÉ VERMEIL BRACELET This is NOT a reproduction import. I have owned it myself for over 35 years and purchased it from a highly respected antique dealer who said at the time that it was probably early to mid 1900’s, likely around 1930’s, and appears to be Chinese in origin. It has wonderful patina, and is in great condition. An amazingly skilled creation, this bracelet has a domed filigree design with exquisite cloisonné enameled flowers in shades of blue and purple laid upon a gold mesh background. There are five links and the three middle ones have free form natural cabochon carnelian stones set in hand made filigree style bezels. The stones are untreated, with natural striations and tones. It is unlike any of the similar ones on eBay and on the web both in detail and the size of the carnelian stones. This is not stamped Made In China like so many newer incarnations of this design. Also, unlike other similar bracelets on eBay and online, these are not evenly rounded and oval carnelians, they are each an individual shape and size, irregular both in outline and in surface dimensions – obviously polished by hand with skill and care. The center stone is approximately 5/8” by 3/4” in only what shows in the setting and the stones on either size are each just about 1/16” smaller in length and width. Stunning detail, the enameling is very beautiful, even the smallest flowers have varying shades of color, the side ones in blue tones with purple petal ends, and the ones above and below the carnelians in purple. The back is finished with an artistic looped-mesh design. It has flexible hinge-connected links. It is stamped SILVER, with an overall vermeil (gold-plated) finish. Measures 7 & 1/8” long excluding clasp (clasp approx. 3/8”). 1” at the widest curve-out, ½” at the clasp ends. It weighs 53.6 grams. Slide-in clasp, invisible when engaged, with safety chain.
