Jenny Lind Bed with Mattress - 15 miles N.E. of Downtown St. Louis - $300 - (Edwardsville, IL)
Searching the Internet, I found Jenny Lind beds (frame only) selling from $100 to $800. I noticed a lot of people are painting them recently. The bed I have for sale might be a good candidate for that. Although there is not a lot of damage for something this old, it could use a little “sprucing up”. The main problem is that a spindle broke off of the headboard. The spindle is intact; it looks like there is a metal pin at the bottom that broke off.I thought about repairing it, but decided the next owner might know someone who could do that for them. I found several different sizes of Jenny Lind beds. The dimensions on this bed for sale are as follows: At widest point: 53 ¼” At Longest point: 76 1/2” The headboard is 38” tall The footboard is 34” tall The clearance under the side boards is 11” The pictured slats are 1” x 3” x 50”. The plywood is 3/8” x 48” x 72” The mattress does not have a tag describing the firmness, but it seems to be pretty soft. The mattress has no major damage. There is one fairly noticeable stain, and two lighter stains; I have tried to show all of these in the photos. I have not tried using carpet cleaner or any other means of cleaning these three spots. I am asking $300 for the all the parts pictured, not including the sheets or quilt. A new mattress alone would cost more than that.
