Exceptional "SIMON & HALBIG 1249 DEP GERMANY SANTA 6 1/2" - 18" Tall - Bisque Socket Head Doll with jointed body - Private Collection - Smoke free home This exquisite 18" SIMON & HALBIG SANTA DOLL is truly beautiful. Some doll experts suggest that the prettiest German bisque head dolls were those marked DEP so that the could be exported from Germany and sold in France. I cannot verify whether or not this is a fact, but this doll, with her incredible cloth eye lashes and blue eyes, is truly gorgeous! This doll was part of my mother's private antique doll collection and she has safely resided in a doll cabinet in our smoke free home for approx. 55 years. The markings on the back of her head, as shown in the photo, are as follows:SIMON & HALBIG1249DEP GERMANYSANTA6 1/2 This doll was clearly made in Germany and she has beautiful Blue glass eyes that do not close. Remarkably, she does not have painted upper eye lashes. Her upper eye lashes appear to be made from some sort of fabric. She has a lovely mouth with a very subtle smile and proudly displays her 4 beautiful top front teeth. Her chin has an adorable and subtle dimple. She is in very good condition for her age. This doll's "stringing" appears to be in good condition (very minor head wobble & appendages hold poses reasonably well as shown in the photos). Please note that she is original and vintage. I noted a chip on the small finger of her left hand, a crack in her lower back and a chip in her front upper torso as shown in the photos. Additionally, her wig does not appear to be totally straight. The doll is being sold with the clothing that is shown which includes: dress with black velvet ribbon belt, full cotton slip, full body bloomers, socks, black shoes & hat. The dress has a back button closure. The stand is not included in the price. Payment via Paypal upon auction close.
