Antique 20" French Unis perfect bisque socket head doll, antique clothes - $425 - (Orchard Park, NY)
Please examine all of the photos, they are part of the description. Thank you. Every now and then a doll comes along that has something special. This is one of those dolls. Is it the expression, the beautifully hand painted face, the smooth flawless complexion? I don't know but she's nice to look at. She has a perfect head that's marked on the back: 71 UNIS FRANCE 149, 301, 8. She has her original blue glass sleep eyes that work and full real hair lashes. Her head is stuffed with tissue paper to protect the eyes so they don't sleep for now. She has feathered eyebrows, an open mouth with four teeth and pierced ears. Her earrings have been replaced. The nick seen in her right eyebrow was caused during manufacturing and has always been there. It's not that obvious in actual size. She's on an old body that was manufactured in the early 1970's and is now nearly fifty years old. It is strung with hooks and elastic, has been repainted and restrung and is in great condition. This is a quality and heavy body, the finished doll weighs four pounds. The body has a replaced "Diplome d Honneur" sticker on the back. This dolls dress and crocheted pinafore are very old. They are from my collection and I was planning to use them on another doll but they fit her so well and looked so right on her that she got them! I love this outfit, I love this doll. Her pressed styrofoam pate is lightly glued to the head and her replaced wig is simply pinned to that. This is a big, heavy doll. If I have overcharged for the shipping I'll refund the difference. The doll stand is not included and thank you for looking at my sale.
