Pre-war Gibson Mona-Steel Strings Store Display Cabinet - Late 30s-Early 40s - $1,895 - (Tallahassee, FL)
Very rare late 1930s / early 1940s wooden Gibson store display cabinet. Front reads STRINGS (in raised wooden letters) / HAND GIBSON (in a pre-war logo) MADE / MONA-STEEL STRINGS. GUITAR / BANJO / MANDOLIN / UKULELE / VIOLIN. The cabinet was designed with raised hand-crafted letters that are hand-painted yellow. It's very attractive in the robin egg blue color (or is it Pelham Blue...) It features three brass hinges and two latches that allow you to open the back to access string packages in the 11 separate spaces. The back door and the cabinet are matched with "10" being stamped in both. The cabinet is 13 3/4" high, 5 1/4" wide, 21 1/4" long. It would be a great addition to any vintage Gibson guitar collector or could even serve it's original purpose in a store again. These were made from 1939 until about 1943. Condition: The cabinet looks great, especially for being around 80 years old. Some of the hand painted yellow on "STRINGS" is flaking. Please email if you have any questions and refer to pictures. Shipping: Buyer pays $40.00 for Continental US shipping - Alaska/Hawaii and International shipping will be more. Insurance is NOT automatically included. Please inquire. Will combine shipping on multiple purchases. I have attempted to be as accurate as possible in my description, but please email if you have any questions. Please submit payment within 2 days from the close of the auction.
