4/4 Hand Carved Maple Violin and H.R. Pfretzschner Bow - $6,300 - (Atlanta, GA)

This auction is for the violin, bow and case. Amazing Violin and bow that has been in my family for 2 generations. Our best guess for its age is around 1918. Dr. Angelo LaMariana's (1914 - 2009) father brought the violin over from Italy when he was about six years old. Dr. LaMariana was my Mother's and Uncle's violin teacher. He was a music professor at Plattsburgh State University in upstate NY. My grandfather purchased this violin from Dr. LaMariana as a gift in 1956 to my mother. This violin was important to him, but my Mom was also a special student and wanted her to have it. The Violin label says Italian, but Ronald Sachs believes the violin is actually German and a very fine instrument. See attached picture of appraisal. The 4/4 bow is a sought after H.R. Pfretzschner. I played this violin for 10 years, but have not played it in awhile. It is time to pass it on and unfortunately no family member to pass it down to. The violin's tone is beautiful. I recently took it to Ronald Sachs Violins to have it restored to excellent condition (receipt attached) prior to sale. I kept all original parts he replaced and will give them to the buyer. The bow was restrung. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Buyers for pick up only, please. Contact me to set up a time to see the instrument. I will not accept returns once the violin and bow are in the buyer's possession.
