Elgin 14k Gold Full Hunter Pocket Watch size 6 - $895 - (Shingle Springs, CA)
This is a most amazing 14k solid gold Elgin size 6 pocket watch mounted in a full hunter case. I had this watch serviced recently and the mechanism is working smoothly. The overall condition is superb. The case is ornately engraved with no visible wear, damage, or monograms detected. All case covers open and close correctly. The hinges are tight and do not open beyond 90 degrees. The crystal is perfect. The dial appears to the naked eye to be flawless, but I can detect a very small hairline running from the VII to the sub dial using a 10X loupe. This is the only blemish detected. The movement is Elgin model 1, three-quarter plate, hunting, 15 jewels. The stem wind, pin set mechanism is beautiful and original. Although the serial number would indicate a manufacturing date circa 1891, this watch looks like it was made yesterday! This is a truly collectible timepiece. You could search for a long time before finding another in such good condition.
