VINTAGE 1940's GERMANY SLEEPING BEAUTY DISPLAY DOLL SEATED ON A ROSE BUSH BRANCH - $150 - (Dellslow, WV)
This exquisite doll was acquired by a family member in Germany in the late 1940's as part of her collection of antique dolls. It depicts the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty", or as in Germany, "Dornroschen". At the time it was already brittle with age in the leafy area, but in the 60 plus years since then it has been displayed under glass, or carefully boxed for shipment or storage. The three pins anchoring the crown are a recent addition, since the crown has separated into 3 parts. Her antique cloth dress and the branch of cloth roses have held up remarkably well, as has her lovely braided hair. Measures approximately 11" long x 6" tall. It is a doll for the connoisseur or advanced collector and would make a great addition to any antique doll collection.
