Tippco Lockheed Super Constellation “KLM” The Flying Dutchman - battery operated - $1,650 - (Uniontown, OH)

Arnold produced several variations of a tinplate Lockheed Super Constellation airliner during the 1950’s. Most of these were friction wheel powered versions that when pushed along he floor, the propellers would spin. Tipp Company did make a very few (expensive), versions that were battery powered. Not only where these battery powered, but they were also remote controlled! This item is the extremely rare remote controlled version of the Lockheed Super Constellation flown by KLM Airlines and identified as “The Flying Dutchman”. This plane is from my personal collection of battery operated, tinplate aircraft that I have owned since December 3, 2003. I have never seen another one like this offered online, in any condition, since I purchased this one. The remote control is hand-held and contains 2 D-Cell batteries. The remote is hardwired to the plane and it has two buttons (one black and one white). When both buttons are depressed, all 4 propellers start rotating and both wheels rotate to propel the plane forward. If you depress only a right or left button, the plane will turn right or left while taxiing. The front “nose gear” on this plane is free to rotate allowing the plane to turn. You will look a long - long time to find another one like this in perfect operating condition.
