Rare Tomiyama Dehaviland Comet 4 BOAC Jet Airliner with Friction Motor - $1,200 - (Uniontown, OH)
The only other time I saw a Tomiyama Comet 4 air plane being offered for sale was at a London auction house in 2009 and that one was “rusty”. This Tomiyama, Comet 4 Airliner was the largest and most realistic tin-plate, Comet toy plane that I ever found when I was purchasing these airplane toys 20 years ago. Measurements of this aircraft are 14” long with a wingspan of 15”. This highly detailed airliner, is in excellent condition with a functioning friction drive motor. On the top of the fuselage, there is a small lever that when pushed or pulled makes the passengers in the windows disappear and the rear passenger door opens as if to allow the passengers to disembark from the aircraft. The DeHaviland Comet was the most beautiful, jet powered, airliner ever made in my opinion and I bought every toy Comet airliner that I ever came across. This one is my most prized Comet and I am reluctantly offering this very rare variation for sale for the first time from my personal collection.I will consider shipping this Comet overseas as I think that the Brit’s would like to have this one back.
