For your consideration, I am offering one, exquisite, modern 1920's bulbous shaped Moorcroft Vase in assorted shades of ground green background decorated with the florian ware "Clematis Flowers'" pattern design and having the blue Moorcroft signature..Made in England..This rare, bulbous shaped vase consists of slightly fluted rim all heavily painted in shades of green background with the decorative florian ware Anemones flower heads band in gorgeous colors all with a highly lustered glaze!! Approximate measurements are 7.5 inches height by 2 5/8 inches top rim diameter - 3 1/8 inch base diameter.. William Moorcroft: William Moorcroft (1872-1945) was an English potter who founded the Moorcroft pottery business....Moorcroft was born in Burslem, Staffordshire... He studied art at Burslem then in London and Paris... He experimented with his own pottery designs around 1896 while working for James Macintyre & Co Ltd. and produced Aurelian Ware which was partly decorated with transfers and partly painted by hand. Moorcroft developed highly lustered glazes and used oriental shapes and decorations. Some of his techniques were closely guarded trade secrets.
