Conductor Vaclav Talich Signed Card attached to mat and Photograph May 28, 1943 - $100 - (Lemont, IL)

Vaclav Talich (May 28, 1883 – March 16, 1961) Czech conductor, violinist and pedagogue. Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic for the 1903–04 season. From 1915 to 1918 he was the violinist of Bohemian Quartet. After the war, Talich was arrested by communists and accused of collaboration with the Germans. The accusations were refuted and he resumed his career in 1946, establishing the Czech Chamber Orchestra with students of the Prague Conservatory. Talich also taught a good deal, with Karel Ancerl, Jaroslav Krombholc, Charles Mackerras, Ladislav Slovák, Ivan Romanoff, and Milan Munclinger among his pupils. Origin: Glossy photograph 7 1/2" x 5" in very good condition is attached to original 15" x 9" mat by yellow tape. Signed card 3" x 5" by Vaclav Talich May 28, 1943 for one of his students (my late friend Loop College Chicago professor of music history and conducting). Scarce photo of Vaclav Talich with and his original signature in excellent condition!
