Cigar box has been covered in fabric around sides and over top lid, with lace doily on lid that has been handcolored and cushioned to raise design. Also have beads that have been sewn around doily. Doily itself may have come from an antique Victorian Greeting card because it says A Happy New Year on it. Inside of lid is also covered in fabric. Box inside says Smoke "S.B" Cigars. On bottom of box it says Factory No. 2142 1st Dis. PA. 50 with notice. Cigar box paper that is seen around on bottom of box edge says S.B. Stauffer Bros. Box measures approx. 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 2 1/2" Box is intact, antique wear and discoloration due to age. The new years doily on front has ink writing on it and scribble mark. The gilt paint on it has some wear to it. The beading sewn around doily has unraveled in some spots. Fabric around lid has worn, torn at edges and corners.
